Biography
James grew up in Roslindale, a neighborhood in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Hamilton College where he wrote for various student publications and worked as an admissions fellow before graduating with a major in German Studies. He engaged with hundreds of prospective applicants while a student himself, and after he graduated, he moved on to Vassar College where he served as an admission counselor there - helping to facilitate the alumni program and act as a liaison with arts faculty. James is passionate about increasing transparency in the college admissions process for students and their families, as he fundamentally believes in the transformative power of higher education.

Why did you choose to work at Barnard?
Barnard’s existence as an institution that is identity conscious and champions access is incredible. I admired Barnard’s willingness to not shy away from empowering young women to create change in their communities and be unapologetic in doing so.

What is your favorite thing to do in NYC?
Going to see local bands is a huge perk of city life. The music scene here is phenomenal!
What is your favorite place on campus?
Futter field! It’s such a wonderful little patch of green serenity on a campus that’s constantly in motion.
What is a random fun fact about yourself?
